Summer is travel season; and travel reminds us to take precautions. Remember if you are travelling overseas to get updates on all of your immunizations! If you travel closer to home, take the time on longer car rides or airplane flights to move around to help prevent blood clots, and do some additional stretching. Of course, see your doctor if you have any questions before you go!!
Your weight matters! Of course it does. Your weight affects your health, and your health affects almost everything you do. In fact, your health is one of those things that you don’t think about, until it bothers you, and then it is a constant reminder that it needs attention! I see this in my practice every single day. People feel well, then something starts to bother them….their head, their stomach, their ankle. And until it is well again, it bothers them all the time. SO….starting today, remember to take very small steps to work on your health or to remain healthy. If you need to, put it on your to do list! Then….bump it up on your list! I tell everyone to re-prioritze themselves. Consider this your reminder for today.
Wishing everyone a happy and *healthy* Memorial Day weekend!

This past weekend, April 27, 2013 our group banded together to try to improve our fitness level and have fun at the same time. Patients, staff, and providers turned out for the Vernon Hills Loop the Lakes 5k Run/Walk. Everyone involved had a great time; and most of us learned that our bodies were able to do more than we thought! We all challenged ourselves, and found that we rose to the challenge! It was exciting, and we plan to continue down this new path and say hello to new challenges! At the same time, we are saying goodbye: our Physician’s Assistant, Lisa Cotten, will be leaving our practice this month. We are sad to see her go, and wish her the best of luck in future endeavors. /And by the way…..check out our Facebook page to see a photo from the Loop the Lakes event!
North Shore Primary Care has decided to talk the talk and walk the walk! We as a workplace community have decided to take on the challenge of participating in the upcoming Loop the Lakes in Vernon Hills; a 5K run/walk!! We are inviting anyone who would like to join us: patients, friends, family, and employees! Please contact us at the office if you would like more information. Dr. Weiss
Happy New Year! With 2013 upon us, many people’s thoughts turn to resolutions for the coming year. My advice? Take some time to focus on You. Whether it’s losing weight, or finally getting that blood pressure under better control, this is the perfect time to think about self-improvement and self-awareness. In most cases, what prevents people from achieving their goals and satisfying their resolutions are the perceived obstacles of time and effort. But losing weight and improving your health are two things that can be accomplished by working on small tasks and measuring small accomplishments. In other words, take only 5 or 10 minutes a day to work on your goal. By working on small sections, it should be easier to find both the time and motivation to accomplish these goals. Good luck, and please let our office know if we can help in any way with improving your health. Happy 2013! Dr. Weiss
